July 11, 2000[ 11 July 2000 ] CommerceNet Singapore signs MOU on Cooperative Framework with KIEC in Seoul
July 11, 2000CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) signs cooperative framework with Korean Institute of E-Commerce (KIEC) in Seoul at the InterContinental Hotel. The eventful signing ceremony brought together representatives from the two organisations. Dr. Tae-Chang Choi, President of KIEC and Dr. See Kiat Toh, CNSG Chairman of CNSG pens the historic memorandum.
Both Dr. See Kiat Toh and Mr. Jeh Shyan Wong, the Chief Executive Officer of CNSG, spoke on the need to establish closer bilateral relationship between the e-Commerce organisations in the two country. Dr. Toh invites KIEC to visit Singapore in the near future. Mr. Wong shares his view on the possible development directions of major Internet players in the region including how Singapore and Korea can position and learn from one another.
KIEC and CNSG recognise the urgent needs to support and materialise effective online business practices globally, specifically in and between Korea and Singapore. The possibility to work on joint e-commerce project research, with prompt exchange of information and documents concerning matters of e-commerce including project implementation, management, execution, and research publication, form the background framework for the MOU.
Both parties identified specific actions including practical business research results sharing, to organise activities to further strengthen communications with the e-commerce communities in the two countries and to encourage the development of a supportive community of online businesses. KIEC and CNSG will provide active encouragement for research that will support the missions of both organisations, by endorsing specific joint projects.
KIEC also hosts a dinner for the CNSG delegation.
