March 14, 2000CaseTrust is poised to take on the world within a year of its launch. Our partner in this globalisation venture is Cybersource Pte Ltd (Cybersource), one of the largest Internet companies in Asia. This
strategic link up between CaseTrust and Cybersource marks CaseTrust’s first foray into the international e-commerce arena.
Cybersource and CaseTrust will sign a memorandum of understanding today to formalise this strategic partnership.Cybersource’s presence in various locations worldwide gives the CaseTrust scheme immediate global presence and recognition. It is imperative for the scheme to take on an international perspective, given the global pervasiveness of the Internet.
Commenting on this initiative, Associate Professor Toh See Kiat, Chairman of CommerceNet Singapore said, “CaseTrust takes on new challanges as it goes global. For a website trustmark to be fully useful in the borderless world of e-commerce, there is no other alternative to globalising. International recognition, however is not easy to achieve. Most traditional global brands took decades to be established. CaseTrust must do it at Internet speed. Therein lies the begining of the long list of challenges.”
Mr. Loh Kok Choy, General Manager of Retail Promotion Centre highlighted “The basics of business are still applicable; amidst the excitement of gettin online, merchants must be able to assure customers of reliability and the ability to fufill promises. All online businesses are born global. So it becomes all the more important, but challenging, to communicate that reassurance, CaseTrust is designed to address such needs – it provides consumers the assurance that merchants carrying the mark has been audited and found to abide by good ethical business practices and have the
wherewithal to fufill orders.”
Mr Wong Jeat Shyan, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Cybersource said “We see the partnership with CaseTrust as an ideal alliance to create a conducive environment for the promotion of e-commerce in Singapore and Asia. The CaseTrust seat will also help instill confidence and assurance among cutomers who also shop at our merchant sites.”
Launched earlier this year, the CaseTrust scheme – a joint effort by the Consumers Association of Singapore, RPC and CNSG accredits retailers with good business practices. Good retailers are regularly audited to ensure that business standards of the scheme’s participants comply with the relevant code of practice. Retailers who qualify for the scheme can display the CaseTrust logo on either their web page or storefront.
The Partnership with Cybersource adds an e-commerce administrator to CaseTrust’s stable. This is critical to the promotion of Singapore as an e-commerce hub in the region, as well as to our global presence.
Cybersource, is a Singapore incorporated company, established in December 1995 and has over 50 merchants in countries like Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Hong Kong and Pakistan.
