March 26, 1999CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) played host to Malaysia’s Global Reliability Programme management team on a two days working visit to Singapore.
Headed by Mr. Zaki Mahalli, the working team held a series of meetings with CNSG and CommerceTrust team on the global ConsumerTrust programme implementation procedures and the newly released assessment criteria. Malaysia has launched the CommerceTrust’s global ConsumerTrust programme ahead of other countries in the region.
The working committee unveils the new assessment criteria (version 2.0) which will form the backbone of the international benchmarking of trustmarks. The new criteria are a quantum leap forward for ASEAN region, which include adaptation of data privacy and child-safe components into the basic framework.
The implementation programme had received strong support in Malaysia with the launching ceremony featured on national television news and national print media. Both partners are exploring joint education initiatives with cross-border implementation. Mr. Zaki noted that Singapore and Malaysia enjoyed strong support and working relationship in ICT sectors. “ConsumerTrust is now poised to grow at a tremendous rate within Klang Valley and will make its presence felt in all major cities. Both the online and physical store accreditation works are being implemented simultaneously.”
CommerceTrust Limited, formerly known as Casetrust Limited is the corporatised vehicle of the trustmark initiatives within the larger global reliability programme launched by CNSG. The primary purpose of which are to accelerate the development of and promotion of trust in commerce in the physical and the Internet for electronic commerce by providing an industry reference and benchmarking framework to discuss and resolve issues and promote trust standards and direction for Internet-based electronic commerce.
CNSG hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting team at the end of the working session.
