July 2, 2001As world class companies seek to compete successfully in a global market, business leaders are increasingly challenged to manage their inventory and flow of parts on a global scale more efficiently. This focus on fast cycle distribution is accelerated with the emergence of electronic networks, which facilitates closer and more effective collaboration. Technological advances are enabling greater efficiencies along the supply chains and underline the critical importance of managing the whole process-securing raw materials, just-in-time manufacturing, inventory control, reaching the end-user in time-through an efficient supply chain.
FedEx Express is a classic example of an air express company that is information intensive and uniquely dependable for corporations engaged in global commerce. It is the combination of FedEx’s air and information networks, its custodial control and reliable door-to-door movement of goods to 211 countries and its suite of e-business tools that offer companies powerful supply chain management solutions and provide companies with a distinct competitive advantage.
In this session, FedEx will offer companies insights into how they can gain efficiency of their supply chains through e-business solutions and the deployment of Internet-enabled technologies. Mr Peter Mokand Mr Desmond Chan were invited to share their FedEx expereince in creating and facilitating electronic commerce initiatives, driving the development of e-commerce tools and enhancing FedEx’s leadership position through the implementation of successful eBusiness alliances.
