February 25, 2005CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) attended the Global Business Dialogue on eCommerce (GBDe) Chief Executives Officers’ Global Summit 2004 in Kuala Lumpur. The 2-days summit was held at Shangri-la Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Following the successful conclusion of the summit, GBDe released its Recommendations for 2004. It included issues related to the Ubiquitous Society, New Business Models, Securing Electronic Transactions and E-Government.
GBDe is recognized as one of the world’s leading private sector voices on e-commerce policy. The grouping embodies the spirit and dynamic features of the digital age and continues to motivate through the global process it first pioneered in 1999. GBDe as a grouping also demonstrates the willingness of the private sector to engage seriously in the policy development process; and create detailed, consensus-based recommendations on crucial e-commerce issues. It has continued to provide authoritative expertise on electronic commerce policy issue, leading the way in identifying, defining and understanding those issues which will challenge policy-makers in the future.
Business, through the GBDe, demonstrates that it has achieved the level of responsibility and maturity necessary to lead the way forward on the complex issues at the heart of the Information Society. GBDe not only make recommendations to governments, but also works to raise the standard of business practice among both members and all companies active in the field of electronic commerce. The GBDe has become a primary conduit for Government feedback to industry, and increasingly, governments are urging the GBDe to address particular issues to provide a starting point for their own policy development process.
CNSG was represented at GBDe CEO Global Summit in Kuala Lumpur by Mr.Jeh Shyan Wong and Mr. Ramesh Vakkiprath. CNSG focused on the trustmark development discussions and the viable working relationship between Asian Trustmark Alliances (ATA) and Global Trustmark Alliances (GTA).
