April 8, 2002CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG), Keppel Digihub, Axvantage Technologies and Opentech organised a Breakfast Forum on Wednesday, 3 April 2002 at the Traders Hotel, Singapore. The theme for the Forum was “First Step to Telemedicine – Centralised IT Outsourcing “. About 50 participants attended the forum.
Centralised IT outsourcing – A new step into the future of improved healthcare services. The advent of a digital economy heralds new benefits to various fields especially in the healthcare sector. Total healthcare is not confined to the ability of medical science and resources – quality service provided to patients is just as crucial. This and more can be achieved by using an effective central managing system to run group hospitals and clinics.
With centralised outsourcing, IT infrastructure, patients’ medical records and various important data can now be shared across platforms within a group network. Hospitals and clinics will save time, maximise resources, promote data flow and advance in seamless healthcare services for patients
Mr Dave Ng, Chief Executive Officer, Keppel Digihub Ltd spoke on “Going up the experience curve in IT Outsourcing”. He discussed market trends for IT Outsourcing and highlighted primary success factors for IT Outsourcing. He stated that taking the first step to embark on IT Oursourcing was an issue that most organisations should consider.
Mr. Bruno Lee, Business Development Director, Axvantage Technologies was the next speaker and he spoke on “Information Security in Healthcare Services”. He stated that the healthcare industry is going through unprecedented changes in the way it is managed through the formation of large healthcare services group. The consolidation and emergence of large healthcare groups provides an opportunity to raise the level of healthcare services through better use of resources and IT infrastructure. Two trends have emerged from this development: Seamless healthcare services to patient within the group and centralization of IT resources and management. These two trends have significant implications on how IT infrastructure and security is managed.
The last speaker, Mr Chng Hock Huat, Chief Executive Officer, Opentech Corporation Pte Ltd discussed issues on the theme “The Pulse of Disaster Recovery Services”. He addressed the critical issues on Healthcare and gave the audience an overview of his organisation, Opentech. He spoke on Business Continuity and highlighted the critical success factors in them. He also discussed Opentech’s BCP/DRP Services and their customer reference sites.
