[ 3 December 2001 ] Consolidation and Realignment at CommerceNet Singapore
December 3, 2001[ 10 December 2001 ] CommerceNet Singapore Board Meeting
December 10, 2001CNSG and Compaq jointly organised a breakfast forum to exchange ideas and network with industry peers on security in today’s Internet Commerce world. The forum agreed that it is increasingly difficult to monitor the IT system to see if it had ever been hacked, or has it been used to commit cyber crimes. The latest security developments discussed include: masquerading as another user; packet-replay, denial of service (DoS) attacks; remote brute-force and dictionary attacks; system identity spoofing; eavesdropping on communications; Code Red and Nimda worms, among others.
The forum was opened by Ms. Esther Tan, Business Critical Solutions Group Manager, followed by a presentation on “Internet Security: The Dangerous Outlook” by Mr. Ashish Kumar, Snr Technical Consultant. He also presented the approach to “Scoring 4 ‘As’ In Your E-Infrastructure: Authentication, Authorization, Administration And Audit”.
Mr. Bill Liddle talked on “Internet Security: NonStop Platform Architectures” followed by Mr. Peter Ow spoke on “You’re In Control: Securing Business-Critical Internet Applications”. Mr. Tarik Husain presented “The Road To End-To-End Security Solutions” and Ms. Ester Tan capped the morning with “Where Do You Go From Here?”.
A lively discussion with the audience followed the series of presentations. The event attracted large turnout and strong support from IT professionals, which packed the Arundel Room at Goodwood Park Hotel.
