September 29, 1998KARACHI (APP) – A delegation of an international enterprise, which invests in the Information Technology sector, called on the Governor of Sindh, Muhammadmian Soomro, alongwith the office bearers of Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA) here at the Governor House.
The delegation chief, Mr.Wong Jeh Shyan, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Singapore-based CommerceNet, evinced his keen interest in providing investment and technical know-how in the field of IT in Pakistan and especially in Karachi.
He said he felt highly delighted to visit Karachi where he has found the law and order situation conducive for investment. Mr.Wong categorically stated that he did not find any problem of law and order or any obstacles in communication and other activities as had been portraited in some or the other way.
Governor Muhammadmian Soomro said the present government is paying special attention on the promotion of Information Technology and e-government and ecommerce sectors.
He said it was in this context that Information Technology Board has been established which is working at a fast speed for the attainment of desired results.
Soomro said that besides provision of infrastructure, the government is also providing all possible assistance. He assured of cooperation from all the government organizations in this regard. He said the IT experts and visitors from abroad for promotion of this sector are given special importance.
The visiting delegation included David T.W. Huang, Khurshid Nizam, Khurram Rafiq, Syed Asim Zafar, Anwar Iqbal, Hamza Mateen and Atiqur Rehman. Also present on the occasion were Provincial Finance Minister Dr.Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Additional Chief Secretary Dr Mutwakkal Kazi, Principal Secretary, Brig (Rtd) Akhtar Zamin and other officials.
