January 18, 1999CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) participated actively in the Infocomm 21 Industry Dialogue series organised by Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). The event provides an overview of the strategies under Infocomm21 programme and an opportunity for dialogue and feedback to IDA.
Speaking as a panelist at the breakout session on ‘Spurring Consumer Demand’, CNSG Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jeh Shyan Wong pointed out that the concerns with internet fraud and breaches of privacy relates to both online as well as real world. He believes that building trust is more than just getting vendors’ solutions, hardware, digital signatures, PKI etc. Trust concerns a more transparent way of liaison between merchants and consumers, about explicit codes of practices and alignment in expectations. Mr. Wong also highlighted that benchmarking is increasingly becoming very important in the cyberworld.
The event is held at SICEC Auditorium and Rm 313/314 at Suntec City. Apart from Mr. Wong, other facilitators are Mr. Tony Soh, Deputy Director (Planning) from Singapore Tourism Board; Mr. Scott T. Desmarais, VP and Director of Boston Consulting Group; Mr. Chan Kah Khuen, General Manager of NETS; and Mr. Kevin Khoo, Chief Executive Officer of CommonTown. Mr. Paul Chia, Deputy Director of IDA, chairs the panel.
