April 3, 1999ITCN Asia 2001 had attracted more than 300 volunteers from Karachi’s tertiary institutions, volunteering their time and efforts in making the two major events, the ITCN Asia 2001 International Conference and the ITCN Asia 2001 Exhibition, a success. The two core components of ITCN Asia 2001 formed the largest and most comprehensive IT Show ever to be held in Karachi. The event straddles the newly built Karachi Exposition Hall and Sheraton Towers Hotel.
With global participation from more than 30 countries, the volunteers arranged the logistic coordination between the airport to the hotels, performing protocol duties at the airport, and receiving the delegates right from the moment the step out of the aero-bridges. Officials from Jamal’s Yellow Pages and from the tertiary institutions participating in Project Bader provided the leadership and supervision of volunteers.
The volunteers also selflessly helped CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) in getting the large crowd that turned up at the conference registered in an orderly manner. More volunteers also helped out in the Exposition Halls. The volunteers left lasting impressions and contributed to the success of the conference.
CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) held a private ‘thank you’ gathering at Sheraton Towers Hotel for the volunteers and decided to present each volunteer a reference letter. This will be an addition apart from the Certificate of Participation from the organiser.
