July 16, 2003Mr.Wong Jeh Shyan, CEO, CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) attended the 1st International Conference on Investment and Privatization (ICIP) in OIC Countries, which was held in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the 19-20 April 2003. The conference was designed with the objective of improving synergies in the region, and was seen as a timely move of considerable economic importance, as the Arab capital is currently looking for alternate avenues for safe and profitable investment opportunities. The conference provided an unprecedented international and regional platform in helping countries identify businesses and collaboration opportunities in trade, commerce and industry. The conference was organised by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Ministry of Investment & Privatization, Pakistan, Ecommerce Gateway, Singapore and CommerceNet Singapore Ltd with the coorperation of leading financial and multinational institutions such as Pak-Kuwait Investment Company, National Bank of Pakistan, United Bank of Pakistan, Habib Bank, Bank Alfalah, CitiBank N.A., Mobilink, Engro Chemical Pakistan Ltd. and HUBCO. The conference was inaugurated by H.E. Gen. Pervez Musharraf, President Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the 19th April 2003.
