November 6, 2003[ 11 November 2003 ] CNSG Proposes Study to Review Framework for Acceptance and Promotion of Copyleft in the Region
November 11, 2003CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) organised a dialogue session with the Chief Executive Officer of Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (iDA) Mrs. Tan Ching Yee. The dialogue was themed “Painting the ICT Picture: A Dialogue with the Chief Executive Officer of iDA”. The event held at the Carlton Hotel Singapore on 6th November 2003 was attended by CEOs, CIOs, CTOs and Senior Management Executives from the industry.
The session started at 9am with CNSG director Mr. Lim Soon Hock giving the welcome speech. Mr. Lim is the President of Societe International De Telecommunications Aeronautiques (SITA).
During the session, Mrs. Tan shared the information on the five industry clusters that offered high growth potentials for Singapore over the next three years, identified by iDA as part of the Connected Singapore blueprint in March 2003. They were namely Web Services and Portal; Value-added Mobile Services; Wireless and Wired Networks; Multimedia Processing and Management; Security & Trust Infrastructure. Mrs. Tan also spoke on the progress made to-date and the areas that iDA intended to work on. The question and answer session that followed was lively and was very well received. Active participation from the audience, touching on issues like the trends and developments in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) industry, putting forward varied arguments with opinions discussed and shared. There were also exchanging of views on issues of common interest, including growth prospects of IT spending in Singapore and the region, areas in which Singapore can be a good showcase of ICT usage and quality and relevance of Singapore’s ICT manpower.
The Dialogue Session ended with a closing summary by Mr. Lim Soon Hock at 10:45am.
