March 21, 2002CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) announces support for Online Government Procurement Conference to be held on 23-24 May 2002 at the Grand Hyatt, Singapore. Organised by Ark Group Asia, the conference touches on some of the most pressing issues in online government procurement.
CNSG acknowledges that online service provision and E-Government are a central part of governments’ IT strategies. The governments of Asia Pacific have invested both significant time and effort putting core government services online. As well as re-engineering the relationship between government and citizen, governments are also re-engineering the relationship between government and business, migrating key government procurement processes and procedures online.
Implementing an E-Procurement framework allows both government and their suppliers to remove inefficiencies from their purchasing processes and build integrated supply chains. Through the reduction of repetitive administrative tasks and the automation of key processes, the cost of procurement transactions can be significantly reduced. Online procurement allows government to create a greater degree of transparency, raising citizen confidence in the way public money is spent.
However, moving government procurement to an online environment not only requires a significant financial investment in technical infrastructure, it is also vital that governments develop clearly defined policies, procedures and business models for online procurement, liaising with their industrial partners to formulate an integrated approach.
CNSG supports the two day inter-governmental conference that brings together leading speakers from North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. It will draw on public and private sector case studies giving delegates a unique insight into global best practice in online government procurement.
CNSG members will receive 10% discount for the conference.
