March 26, 2002CommerceNet Singapore’s (CNSG) Consultative Partners (CPs) met at CNSG’s corporate member Sesami’s Board Room today to exchange views on Possible Next Generation Internet (NGI) or Internet II Initiatives.
CNSG’s distinguished panel of CPs was set up as a thought leadership programme to advise the Board and management team on CNSG international and regional policies, industry initiatives and strategies. The meeting discusses effective and implementation initiatives, both with or without government support. Some of the notable initiatives are those related to hubbing of Internet Data Centres that Keppel Digihub is keen to take a lead role, large bandwidth utilisation geographic and telecommunication based initiatives. The meeting was also represented by Infocomm Development Authority’s representative.
Since the CPs were established four years ago, their comments and advice have been incorporated into CNSG’s industry strategies. CPs had in the past suggested broad approaches to build on CNSG’s existing strengths and achievements for a smooth transition to a knowledge-based economy by enhancing industry clusters development and pilot programmes test-bed approach. CNSG and members had traditionally looked beyond the geographical South East Asian region to the market and resource potential offered by the 2.8 billion people, in self-sustaining and vibrant enterprise ecosystems, bringing about innovation and market penetration.
