[ 25 February 2000 ] CNSG Chairman, Assoc Prof. Toh See Kiat’s 2nd Anniversary Message

CommerceNet Singapore (CNSG) is two years old. I am pleased and honoured to have been involved in it from inception. CNSG is an industry-initiated, industry-led consortium of companies interested or involved in eCommerce.  It is a not-for-profit organisation and is effectively Singapore’s only Chamber of eCommerce. Like all membership-based organisations, it thrives because of the efforts of countless unsung heroes and heroines who have given of their time, effort and ideas without thought of reward.

I am grateful for their contribution, dedication and unstinting support.

CommerceNet’s mission worldwide is to make eCommerce easy, trusted and ubiquitous.  CNSG in addition aims to make Singapore a trusted global eCommerce hub. We aspire to be industry’s voice and champion. In a deregulated and liberalised economy, we exist to help eCommerce players flourish through promoting industry self-regulation and encouraging enlightened government policy. The World Wide Web need not be the Wild Wild West. The gold at the frontier need not be mined in an environment of disorder and anarchy.

We have a long way to go to reach our destination. But on board we are already have some of the brightest brains and the best company.
