July 8, 2002This Executive Breakfast Forum was jointly organised by CNSG, Ecquaria and Oracle at the Hotel Inter-Continental, Singapore on the 6th June 2002. More than 40 participants attended the forum.
Mr Joshua Teo, Director, Business Development, Ecquaria Technologies was the first speaker and he discussed on “The Service-Oriented Enterprise – Powering Your Business with Web Services”. Mr.Teo stated that the typical large enterprise of today is confronted with customers and vendors that are demanding a more customer-centric approach to the way business is conducted. Senior management teams the world over are now grappling with the question of how advances in information technology may be effectively applied to morph slow-moving corporate giant into fleet-footed enterprises which are able to meet the needs of customers and business partners in a nimble, relevant way. He also stated that the Ecquaria Service-Oriented PlatformTM solves the challenges faced by enterprises in financial, healthcare and hospitality as these organisations strive to adapt themselves in a demanding service-oriented economy, they face in syndicating related services from multi-parties – within and beyond the enterprise, allowing them to deliver a more relevant and responsive suite of service offerings to their customers. It is the new business strategy for today’s enterprises.
The next speaker, Mr Koh Chuen Yuen, Busienss Manager, Oracle 9I, Oracle Corporation spoke on “The Architecture for the Connected Enterprise”. Mr.Koh stated that enterprises deploying Java applications need more than an application server; they need a platform for their application infrastructure. He stated that the Oracle9i Application Server Release 2 provides the most complete and integrated platform that offers a J2EE certified middle-tier that includes a complete suite of software infrastructure services – Portals, Multi-channel delivery, Business Intelligence, Web services, caching, management and security – on a highly scalable, robust and reliable architecture. He hilighted some of the these proofpoints in his presentation with the audience.
