CNSG and Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA) jointly organised this Breakfast Forum, “The Way Forward – Singapore Industrial Infocomm”on the 8th October at the Grand Hyatt Singapore. Senior Management Executives in the Telcos, Manufacturing industry who are invloved in IT/MIS initiatives attended the Forum.
Mr.Wong Jeh Shyan, CEO, CommerceNet Singapore gave the opening address followed by Mr. Colin Koh , President of Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA) who gave the welcome address.
The 1st speaker, Mr. Harinderpal Singh Grewal, Deputy Director, iDA spoke on the topic “Unwire Your Business.” The 2nd speaker, Prof. Hang Chang Chieh, Deputy Chairman A*STAR, Agency for Science, Technology And Research spoke on the topic “Infocomm Powers Manufacturing Automation in the Era of Globalisation”. Prof. Hang stated that the manufacturing scene has changed drastically in the era of globalization and manufacturers operate globally and collaboratively. In his presentation, he stated that quality, cost and speed are three cornerstones of any service and product that an enterprise may want to provide. They can be greatly enhanced through acquiring, processing, communicating and effectively using the enterprise-wide information.
The 3rd speaker, Mr. Sanjay Singh, Regional Research Manager, Industrial Practice Frost & Sullivan, Singapore spoke on “Automation Outsourcing – The Business Sense Behind It.” Mr.Singh discussed issues on Process Automation Outsourcing as well as its various elements how to build a business case for companies to seriously consider outsourcing of this function. He discussed the value proposition that process automation offers to companies and the benefits it can provide with examples related to MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) as well as Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics. He also explored some of the new paradigms and emerging trends as well as discussed some of the collaborative possibilities in this area.
The last speaker, Mr. O J Chung, Chairman – Industry Infocomm Sub-Committee, Singapore Industrial Automation Association presented the “SIAA Certified Industrial Infocomm Engineer Training Course” to all participants.
A total of 50 participants attend the Breakfast Forum at the Grand Hyatt Singapore Ballroom.
