TP-CNSG: Specialist Diploma in E-Business Management
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A recognised diploma or degree with at least two years of working experience.
COURSE DURATION
1 year, three times a week on Mon, Wed and Fri, from 6.30 to 9.30pm

S$4,888/= (inclusive of GST) per participant
SYPNOSIS OF MODULES
Introduction to EC (9 hours)
This module introduces students to the basic nature of E-Commerce, the meanings and implications of Business-to-Business, Business-to-Consumers and Portal Services. It also highlights the benefits of E-Commerce, the generic and high-level requirements of E-Commerce, namely, technical aspects, legal aspects, the business model, the electronic payment, security issues, front-end operations and back-end operations. Students will also be exposed to various case studies involving E-Commerce operations in worldwide.
Technology Issues (45 hours)
Overview of key Internet technologies will be presented to help student gain an appreciation of the technology required to build E-Commerce solutions. Students will be introduced to some of the common technical terminology, E-Commerce architecture, application development tools as well as security issues such as Certification Authority, Public & Private keys, SET Protocol, etc. Practical information such as the steps to build digital storefront and local E-Commerce service providers will be highlighted in this module.
Legal Issues (54 hours)
These module exposes students to areas like Computer Misuse Act, Electronic Transaction Act, SBA Internet Code of Practice. Other legal areas covered include Electronic Contract, Electronic Property Rights, ethics on the Internet. Students will learn what an organization needs to know (in terms of legality) when the business goes on the Web.
Business Model (72 hours)
Focuses on Business-to-Business issues, which requires integrated back-end operations. Students will be exposed to 3 main areas: Supply Chain Management, Customer Relationship Management and Internet Selling. In Supply Chain Management, students will learn about Supply Chain Optimization, Inter-enterprise Solution, Customer Service Dimension and Global Pipeline Management. Topics in Customer Relationship Management include Corporate Management Systems (Customer Satisfaction): Qualitative & Quantitative Measurement Methods, Enterprise Customer Interaction, Optimizing Customer Relationship. Internet Selling topics include, Customer Service on the Web, Internet Marketing Plan, and Fitting Internet into Marketing Communication Mix. Students will also get to solve case studies in these areas.
Group Project (120 hours)
This group project is the practical application integrating the knowledge and skill acquired from the modules learnt in the specialist diploma. The objective of this project is to enable students to understand the whole concept of E-Commerce. This module does not involve low-level programming. Students will be involved in security concepts like PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), Certification Authority and Digital Certificate. Students will also be involved in analysis work. This is an independent project accomplished under faculty supervision, which serves as the required specialist diploma’s program ‘culminating experience’.
